We'll be posting lots of resources on this page.  Look every day and if you don't find what you need, just leave a comment and we'll work on it.

Email us at
debby.kratky@twc.state.tx.us for quicker assistance.

One excellent booklet that puts a great deal of needed resources at your fingertips is the United Way "Coping with Unemployment Resource Guide."  You can find it in the document section below.

One request we have received has been for places a job seeker might go to find assistance with food for their families.  You'll find documentation about WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) below and a full posting about this important supplement at our blog at: WIC.

Another great way to supplement your expenses for food is through the Angel Food Network. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to people in over 35 states, including Texas.  This program is have no eligibility requirements and can be found in churches all around Tarrant County.  In the file section of this webpage, you'll find a list of Tarrant County churches participating and a sample monthy menu.  For more information about this project, go to our blog at: Angel Food Network

And then there's the Food Stamp program, now called SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program). Although it can be time consuming, SNAP  is designed to enable low-income families (with gross income at or below 130 percent of the federal poverty level--about $23,000 for a family of three in 2008) to buy the food they need. Fill out an application (found in the document section below), turn it into the office that serves your zip code area (also found below) gather all the information needed and check your impatience at the door. But before you start the process, check out the "Sources of Proof" form below so that you can be prepared when  you go in for your interview, that can save time and heartburn! This document will also help you in applying for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and Medicaid. More information on SNAP can be found at our blog at: SNAP.

Don't forget 211, click on http://www.tarrantcounty211.org/ and use the 211 instructions below to help you through the process.

WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE FOR TARRANT COUNTY RESIDENTS

The program will pay for insulation, weather stripping, repairs of faulty doors and winders, and perform tune-ups and repairs to heating and cooling systems. Eligibility is based on family size under the 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines. Brochures are coming to your center soon. We've order 1800 (1 box) for Resource, Eastside and Arlington. Northside, Westside and Mid-cities are scheduled to get about 200 each. If you need more, let Jann Miles know at jann.miles@twc.state.tx.us or (817) 413-4428. This can be very good for our customers. All they have to do is call the number on the brochure to check their eligibility and get started. For more information, click here for the brochure: Weatherization ARRA 2009 Program Brochure.pdf
